Williams & Case 75th Anniversary
Williams & Case Insurance celebrated a significant milestone within the past year – our 75th anniversary! Nowadays very few companies can claim they’ve been in business this long. We owe our success and longevity to a lot of hard work and planning, plus we’ve been fortunate to have great customers throughout the years.
Since 1946, the agency’s primary focus has been finding the right insurance for our clients’ one-of-a-kind needs. Individuals, families and businesses alike continue to rely on us as their trusted insurance ally.
Our dedicated team would like to extend a big “thank you” to our customers. Without them, Williams & Case would not exist. Looking ahead to the next 75 years, our goal is to give clients more of what they want. That includes comprehensive and affordable insurance options and the best customer service in the industry.
Proudly Celebrating 75 Years of Quality Insurance
The agency has a long, proud history dating back to 1946. That’s the year Gail Williams co-founded this business with Ernest L. Case. In the years prior to this, Gail worked as a school teacher, principal and basketball coach in Western Ohio. In 1941, Gail joined the U.S. Navy and served in WWII. Then in 1945, Gail came back to Ohio so he could join his brother-in-law, J.M. Badertscher, at a small insurance agency Badertscher purchased in 1938.
Soon after Gail’s arrival, J.M. Badertscher left the insurance business and returned to his previous job as a high school administrator. Gail Williams took over the daily tasks at the agency. He quickly realized that he needed a bookkeeper, so Gail asked Ernest L. Case, who worked as a bookkeeper at the hardware store next door to the insurance office.
On March 1, 1946, Ernest L. Case officially joined Gail Williams to form Williams & Case Insurance Agency. Throughout the first few decades, the agency experienced steady growth. Gail and Ernest eventually decided to incorporate. And in 1969, they moved the agency to a more central location in Sebring.
By 1982, company co-founders Ernest and Gail had retired from the business. Gail’s son, Bill Williams, took over duties as the agency’s next president. Bill saw opportunities to expand the business during the 1980s and 90s. This was when Williams & Case purchased smaller local agencies and eventually became one of the area’s largest insurance companies.
Williams & Case is in its third generation of family leadership. Licensed agent James Williams is the company’s current president. He’s also the grandson of co-founder Gail Williams. The family looks forward to continuing its insurance legacy with future generations.
